The Impact of Armed Conflict on Children Open this link in a new window
The seminal 1996 UN report by Graca Michel - Graça Machel's 1996 report on the Impact of Armed Conflict on Children provided the first comprehensive assessment on the many ways children's rights are violated during and after armed conflict. This study laid the foundation for the appointment of a Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict and highlighted the need to develop new international legal norms and standards and strengthen existing ones.
